期待人工智能的“中国”时刻

人工智能犹如新的科技革命，为长期低迷的世界经济注入新的活力。去年诸多关键技术突飞猛进，无疑是人工智能发展史上浓墨重彩的一年。诞生半个多世纪以来，它终于走到了从科技研发到行业应用的临界点，蓄势待发。
众多研究表明，人工智能对传统行业商业模式、产业链和价值链的全面颠覆，将为全球经济、社会生活的方方面面带来质的变化。自18世纪工业革命以降，每一次技术革命都重塑着全球竞争格局。中国曾经错失了前几次科技革命的历史机遇，这一次，人工智能是中国绝不能错失的战略机遇。完成中国制造业“从汗水驱动到创新驱动”“从齿轮驱动到智能驱动”的升级，人工智能是中国实现转型升级的战略机遇之一。实际上，人工智能的全球竞赛已经开始，各国政府都在紧锣密鼓地布局行业应用。而在这场分秒必争的竞赛中，中国并不落后。从无人汽车到机器人作业，从医疗看护到育婴保姆，都能看到人工智能的身影。
就百度而言，这几年也做了很多基础性工作。近日，国家批复、百度牵头筹建的深度学习技术及应用国家工程实验室正式揭牌，成为人工智能领域首个国家工程实验室。今年政协会议，我提出了推动人工智能行业应用的建议，比如，希望利用人工智能视觉技术优化红绿灯设计、缓解交通拥堵；用人脸识别技术，尤其是跨年龄人脸识别能力，辅助公安部门寻找走失儿童，这项技术也已经比较成熟。
我认为，智能化医疗行业的庞大的发展潜力空间，具体可以分为四个层次，第一个层次我们认为是O2O的服务，怎么样通过线上把用户引流到线下，分发给适合处理他疾病的地方去。第二个是智能问诊，就是IBM的沃尔森对于癌症的很多诊疗。计算机可能很多时候也能够超越人的医生，百度在百度医生方面也做了一些尝试。第三个是精准基因分析和精准医疗。第四个层次是新药研发，我觉得这是真正的在大数据和人工智能可以起到决定性作用的一个领域。
当然，人工智能可以大显身手的领域、场景还有很多。人工智能已经有能力帮我们解决行业发展或社会治理中的一些棘手难题，若能从国家层面加强行业应用，未来人工智能的发展前景必然会更加光明，助力实现提升经济活力、构建国家创新型经济的目标。
在人工智能这场科技浪潮中，中国与其他国家站在同一起跑线上。中国的科学家、工程师、企业家必须全力以赴，让这一次的全球科技创新尽快迈入让我们每个人都激动万分的“中国时刻”。
THE “CHINA MOMENT” OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Artificial intelligence (AI) finds itself at the threshold of finally being applied by industries, after half a century of development.
Its course from here? Suggested by researches, as a result of its impact on the business models and structures of traditional industry, AI will go on to reshape the whole world’s economic and social scenes, as previous technological revolutions did since the Industrial Revolution. Having been missed out on all previous technological revolutions, China is grasping the strategic opportunity that is AI, in the hope to play a role in the next one. As a matter of fact, the race is already under way, and there is no trace at all China is falling behind.
Recently inaugurated China’s first national engineering lab dedicated to AI development and to deep learning technology, funded by Baidu. On this year’s CPPCC session, I spoke of a proposal to promote AI’s application.
In my opinion, smart healthcare’s potentials consist in 4 points: 1. Smart heathcare is online-to-offline (O2O). Patients, through this process, arrive where they can be treated. 2. When it comes to diagnosis, computers sometimes outperform human doctors. Baidu once tried it. 3. Genetic analysis and treatment with precision. 4. Research and development of new medicines ― the decisive one now that you have big data.
There are numerous other fields where AI’s future is promised. If it can be applied on a national level, even more promising, AI will be there to help build a more vigorous and innovation-oriented economy. China began leveling other nations in this race of AI. It’s important China’s scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs give it all, and to raise all our spirits at the “China moment”.
